Safety reminder: crime occurs every day, but we often see an increase in the summer months. Recently, at least a half-dozen homeowners who left their vehicles unlocked found them rifled through and loose change was stolen. It's easy to be distracted when you arrive home, so be aware that thieves do check for unlocked vehicles. Also, a bike was stolen from an open garage while no one was outside watching, and another bike was left in its place. Open garages invite opportunity, so remember to secure your vehicles, your property, and your homes at all times. It literally takes less than a minute to steal something of value left unattended.
